1946

Mr Armando F. de Souza, a young entrepreneur and Mr Silus L Evans a bachelor English Electrical Engineer resident in Bombay, accidentally meet in over the breakdown of an electrical machine needing urgent repair.

1947

The meeting led to the formation of a partnership called Evans Electric Company, housed in a 250 sq.ft ( 24 sq mt) shop on Cadel Road, Worli, Bombay. Independent India’s first rewind workshop.

1951

Acquired the necessary licenses to operate on all types of electrical machines. The Company was formally registered as Evans Electric Pvt Ltd.

1953

Expanded factory to 1000 sq ft (95 sq. mt.) at the same location.

1955

Expanded further to 4000 sq.ft (380 sq. mt.) with the addition of a 5 Ton gantry crane. The capabilities were expanded to include High Voltage Generators, Motors, Power & Distribution Transformers..

1967

Ivor de Souza joined the company as a trainee Electrical Engineer.

1969

After graduating with a Diploma in Engineering, Ivor de Souza joined as a full time Electrical Engineer under the direct leadership of Mr S L Evans.

1972

Evans Electric moved to their newly constructed 20,000 sq ft factory on Mahakali Road, Andheri (East), Bombay.

1974

Mr. Silus L Evans retired from active service.

1976

First Large Turbo Generator 40 MVA, 11 KV, repaired and rewound in situ with a first ever, horizontal core re-stack and new Roebel Bars. The entire job was conducted exclusively by Evans Electric with indigenous materials, manpower and know how.

1981

Evans Electric introduced ELCID testing in India, and were the first to acquire the instrument from the UK.

1984

Mr Silus L Evans passed away at the age of 84.

1992

Evans Electric were again the first to conduct major repairs on a 248 MW, 4 Pole. 105 Ton Turbo Generator Rotor.

1998

Mr. Armando F de Souza passed away at the age of 85, he was still actively involved with the company matters.

2004

Evans Electric created World history with a landmark achievement by completely reverse engineering and Rewinding a 33 KV rated 50 MW Turbo Generator in situ. All 120 round section Stator Bars with 3 tiered continuously transposed Conductor layout, were manufactured exclusively by Evans Electric with indigenous materials, manpower and know how.

2008

Evans Electric moved to their new 25,000 sq ft Palghar factory with 50 Ton lifting capacity, a dedicated Coil & Roebel Bar Manufacturing facility with a Testing & R & D section.

2019

Evans Electric was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange becoming the first ever Electrical Repair and Rewind organization to achieve this status.
